New team members

We are welcoming three new graduate students this term!

Puspita Dewi

Puspita joint the Master of Applied Science (MASc) programme of the Department of Mechanical \& Industrial Engineering at the University of Toronto in January 2023. Prior to that, Puspita worked as CRL’s lab engineer. That’s when her talent for continuum robot design and prototyping became apparent! This motivated her to pursue graduate school to expand her knowledge on continuum robotics and explore her interest in deploying continuum robots for industrial applications.

Thais Baena Moura

Thais is co-supervised by Dr. Vitor Pereira and joint his research team at the RADIS lab (short for Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, Dynamic Flow, (Advanced) Imaging, and Simulation) at St. Michael’s Hospital. She will start the Master of Applied Science (MASc) programme of the Department of Mechanical \& Industrial Engineering at the University of Toronto in May 2023. Thais will work on remote robotic catheter steering for neurovascular interventions.

Rebecca Berthold

Rebecca is joining CRL as an International Visiting Graduate Student from Leibniz University Hannover, Germany. She is in her third year of her PhD in Mechanical Engineering at the Institute of Dynamics and Vibrations Research. Her research focusses on soft continuum robots and how their motion is influenced by contact with their environment.

We are excited about the fresh perspectives, ideas, and expertise Puspita and Thais bring to the team. Welcome!
