Open Post-doctoral Researcher Position

The Continuum Robotics Laboratory at the University of Toronto Mississauga invites applications for a fully funded post-doctoral researcher position. At CRL, we create innovative continuum robot designs with novel features such as drastically increased motion capabilities through extensibility, adjustable stiffness through scale sheaths, and higher accuracy through parallel structures. Furthermore, we are investigating real-time methods for modelling, motion planning and task- and situation adaptive control of continuum robots as well as immersive human robot interfaces for intuitive interaction and collaborative manipulation. For this position, the post-doctoral researcher should have a genuine interest in continuum robot design on a system level. The start date is flexible (ideally asap) and positions are initially for 12 months.

Applicants should have evidence of a strong engineering background, significant hands-on experience in continuum robotics, particularly in robot design and fabrication. We are seeking for a person with high motivation, exceptional communication skills, and outstanding analytical skills. A publication record in high-impact conferences and journals in robotics is required.

Applications (assembled as a single PDF file) should contain

  •  a motivation letter
  •  a complete CV
  •  university transcripts
  •  names and contact information of three references (expected to provide letters of recommendation)
  •  copies of up to three relevant scientific papers
